About Us

The Department of Sports Management aims to train qualified personnel who can serve the sports industry, national and international sports organizations, sports facilities, sports clubs, federations, public and private sector sports-related institutions, schools and universities in order to realize national sports policies, through a quality academic staff and program. 

Gazi University Sports Management Department was established in 1992-1993 academic year. The Department of Sports Management, which accepted its first students in 1998-1999 academic year, started formal education. Prof. Dr. A. Faik IMAMOĞLU, the first Head of the Department of Sports Management, fulfilled this duty in the 1999-2000 academic year. Prof. Dr. Suat KARAKÜÇÜK was the Head of the Department between 2000-2001 and 2010-2011 academic years and Prof. Dr. A. Azmi YETİM between 2011-2024 academic years. In July 2024, Prof. Dr. Zafer ÇİMEN was appointed as the Head of the Department of Sports Management at Gazi University.
